NI4OS-Europe use cases report

National Initiatives for Open Science in Europe, NI4OS-Europe, aims to be a core contributor to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) service portfolio, commit to EOSC governance and ensure inclusiveness on the European level for enabling global Open Science.

NI4OS-Europe will provide a platform where generic service providers (high-performance computing centers, computer clusters, etc), repository service providers, and thematic service providers (belonging to the fields of life science, climate science, digital cultural heritage, and others), will come together to share these services with citizens and researchers in Europe.

The purpose of this survey is to report the findings from testing the first set of on-boarded services with respect to how easily accessible they are, whether the instructions for their use are clear, and whether the user thinks that they are useful for their research.

There are three broad categories of services. Generic services such as computer cloud services and high-performance computing machines, repository services where data can be stored or retrieved, and thematic services that are related to the broad fields of climate science, life science, digital cultural heritage, along with services from the fields of computational physics, computational chemistry, etc.

The results of this survey will be used to improve the overall quality of the onboarded services, the accessibility to the services, and suggest ways to make future services that might be onboarded to NI4OS-Europe clear to use and efficient.
